Adelaide, South Australia
A collaboration between local South Australian health system organisations will result in rural communities receiving better health services.
Country South Australia Primary Health Network (CSAPHN) announced last week that GPEx is the preferred provider of their Education Services program, to be delivered to primary health care providers across rural and remote South Australia from 1 January 2017.
The decision means that GPEx will deliver professional development training to providers in the primary health care industry, particularly general practitioners (GPs).
GPEx Chief Executive Officer, Ms Christine Cook, believes that the collaboration is one that will result in many positive returns, especially for the community.
“It is our mission to deliver high quality, responsive and forward thinking education and training, providing South Australia with a skilled and sustainable GP workforce, meeting the needs of local communities.”
“This partnership provides us with another opportunity to meet our mission; by supporting general practice to improve services provided to patients, resulting in better health care delivered to rural, remote and indigenous South Australian communities.”
Chief Executive Officer from CSAPHN, Kim Hosking, says that professional education is a key support activity for upskilling, knowledge sharing and providing professional development within the primary health care sector.
“Education is a key area of service provision delivered as part of Country SA PHN’s General Practice Support.”
“Our primary intention with this program is to upskill primary health care providers with best practice approaches to improve clinical outcomes and delivery of care.”
“GPEx holds strong collaborative relationships with many general practices across the state that share a similar vision to our organisation, which makes them best equipped to deliver the program.”
GPEx will commence the contract from 1 January 2017 through to June 2018 throughout the CSAPHN region.
The training program topics and themes are yet to be identified through consultation with local GPs and communities.
GPEx is the South Australian Training Organisation which delivers general practice training to doctors selected to specialise in General Practice (GP) in Australia. It is a provider of the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program that is funded through the Australian Government Department of Health.
