More GPs to service South Australian communities.

9 December 2016
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Adelaide, South Australia

South Australian communities can soon expect increased access to high quality general practitioners (GPs).

GP registrars (GP trainees) of GPEx, South Australia’s vocational general practice training provider, achieved a 95% pass rate on their recently completed exam to become qualified GPs.

GPEx CEO Christine Cook has welcomed the news announced yesterday, confirming that she is thrilled for the registrars and the positive impact that they will each make in communities across South Australia.

“It is an absolute delight to hear that 95% of our registrars have passed a component of their final exams towards becoming qualified GPs.”

“They will contribute towards meeting the needs of our communities by increasing the much needed general practice workforce.”

Christine continued, affirming that the high pass rate reinforces the quality of the delivery of the education program.

“This result really speaks to the quality of our education program and the experts behind it who are among some of Australia’s best to deliver general practice training.”

“It also reflects our high performing, passionate team who are dedicated to delivering better health, who are willing to work with our registrars, support them and create a learning environment that fosters this kind of achievement.”

The Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) is set by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), one of the two GP colleges responsible for setting the standards and curriculum for education and training in general practice.
