Who is gpex?

Since 2002, gpex has transformed complex knowledge into practical education that builds frontline capability. gpex Limited is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and an Australian registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). Today, we partner with organisations to design scalable, evidence-based learning solutions across the health and wellbeing sector.

gpex is a strategic education partner to national organisations. For more than two decades, gpex has designed learning for some of Australia’s most complex and high-stakes environments.

Our experience in medical and clinical education shaped our rigorous approach to learning design – one grounded in precision and real-world application. We mastered the science of evidence-based training, built trusted frameworks and saw firsthand how the right education helps communities thrive.

As organisations face increasing complexity, growing workforce pressures, rapidly evolving technology, and stringent safety and compliance regulations, those on the frontline must be confident, knowledgeable and adaptive. Yet many organisations struggle to translate strategy into consistent frontline capability and behaviour.

This is where gpex comes in. Drawing on our legacy of high-quality, intuitive education and harnessing emerging technology, contemporary learning design and deep sector expertise, we craft scalable, evidence-based learning to transform complex organisational goals into practical, instinctive skills.

We are the creative architects of frontline capability, partnering with organisations to link strategic intent directly to daily operational practice.

Working with government bodies, mission-led organisations, and forward-thinking commercial enterprises, our work strengthens workforce capability within a rapidly changing health, safety and wellbeing system. Examples of our partnerships include:

We are much more than education delivery providers. We are strategic partners in education – helping organisations to translate complex knowledge into scalable, intuitive learning experiences that work in the moments that matter most.

We are more than education delivery providers. We are strategic partners in education – helping organisations to translate complex knowledge into scalable, intuitive learning experiences that work in the moments that matter most.

Because when learning is thoughtfully designed, it doesn’t just transfer information. It builds confidence, capability and better care.

By working together and designing education to be adaptive and evidence-based, we’re helping to create a capable and future-ready healthcare workforce.

Our Vision

An Australia where knowledge enables better care, safer environments and stronger wellbeing.

Education and CPD Accreditation

gpex supports continuing professional development accreditation and reporting for education delivered to general practitioners.

As an approved CPD provider for both RACGP and ACRRM, we can assist with accrediting eligible face-to-face and online training, and process participant completions so CPD hours are recorded with the relevant college.

In-House Expertise

When you partner with gpex, you can be confident that medical experts are reviewing your education content before it goes live, either in person or online, via a webinar, a learning module or a downloadable resource.

gpex has two in-house Medical Educators who are also practising GPs. They are subject matter experts and know firsthand how to communicate with their peers to maximise interaction and engagement.

National Reach

gpex has a growing national database of more than 18,000 professionals across health and wellbeing, making it a partner of choice when it is essential to reach those audiences.

We communicate regularly with our database, through EDM/newsletters every two months, and updates on relevant upcoming events or education. Our database is one of our most coveted assets, reflecting more than two decades of gpex, and our legacy as a leading connector of primary care and education.

Community and Social Impact

The gpex team is active in its community through sponsorships that align with its values, event attendance, and participation in committees and research programs where it can add value.

In July 2026, gpex became a Gold sponsor of the Social Impact Summit in Sydney and showcased its work in shared care in South Australia and the work with ReturntoWorkSA for Mentally Health Workplaces. gpex sees its purpose as bridging the gap between health and wellbeing initiatives and effective frontline education delivery.

Leader in Shared Care Models

gpex leads the South Australian Statewide GP Obstetric Shared Care Program and has contributed to the development and implementation of shared care models across a range of clinical areas, including ADHD, palliative care and mental health.

gpex is currently co-designing a shared care model for people living with heart failure, focused on supporting general practitioners to optimise medication titration, enhance patient wellbeing, and reduce avoidable hospital presentations and readmissions.

Through this work, gpex continues to support the expansion of shared care as a practical approach to improving care coordination for patients with complex and ongoing health needs.

Shared care is a structured, collaborative model in which responsibility for a person’s care is formally shared between primary care, such as general practitioners and specialist or hospital services. These models are designed to strengthen continuity of care, improve communication, and enable care to be delivered closer to home where appropriate.

gpex works with partners to design and support shared care models that are clinically robust and operationally sustainable. Key features typically include:

  • clearly defined clinical roles and responsibilities
  • agreed care plans and escalation pathways
  • timely communication and information sharing between providers
  • evidence-based clinical guidance and protocols
  • defined patient eligibility and referral pathways
  • governance, accountability, and risk management frameworks
  • education and ongoing support for the primary care workforce
  • data collection, monitoring, and evaluation
  • a strong focus on patient-centred care

This approach reflects gpex’s role in supporting the practical implementation of collaborative, evidence-based models of care across the health system.

Governance and structure

gpex operates within a strong governance framework that reflects our commitment to being trusted, transparent and accountable in the delivery of our purpose.

Oversight is provided by an independent and skills‑based Board of Directors bringing diverse expertise to guide strategic direction and oversee that organisational performance, risk and compliance are managed in the interests of our stakeholders and the communities we serve.

The Board is supported by appropriate committee structures to ensure detailed and informed oversight of key areas including finance, audit, risk, quality education, and governance.

Day‑to‑day management is delegated to the Chief Executive Officer under a formal Delegations of Authority framework, supported by a small, high‑performing team responsible for operational delivery.
gpex is committed to meaningful and authentic stakeholder engagement, ensuring our programs and services remain innovative, responsive and grounded in the needs of the primary care health workforce, our partners and the communities we support.

We maintain robust governance policies and systems aligned with ACNC Governance Standards and contemporary best practice, ensuring responsible stewardship of our resources, high standards of ethical conduct, and a commitment to continuous improvement and delivering impactful outcomes with excellence.

Further information about our registration and reporting is available via the ACNC Charity Register.

History

Since 2002, gpex has transformed complex knowledge into practical education that builds frontline capability. gpex Limited is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and an Australian registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). Today, we partner with organisations to design scalable, evidence-based learning solutions across the health and wellbeing sector.

Since 2002 gpex built its reputation on delivering medical, health and wellbeing education and training through programs and businesses including Sturt Fleurieu Education & Training Ltd., which later became ModMed, and Adelaide to Outback GP (AOGP) training program, which ceased in 2025.

gpex led the flagship Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) Program until 2023 when, after 20 years, the program delivery shifted to the GP Colleges, ACRRM and RACGP.

This transition marked a new chapter for gpex, focused on an expanded national footprint and partnerships with governments, and private and not-for-profit organisations in the design, development and delivery of education and models of care.

The gpex brand was refreshed in 2026 to reflect the organisation’s expanding national focus and partnerships that enhance health and welbeing education.

Chief Executive Officer, Beth McKenzie, was appointed in September 2025 to lead gpex and to drive a new strategy toward 2030.

gpex looks ahead to technology-led education grounded in clinical expertise, for organisations across Australia, while nodding to the legacy of more than two decades.
